Well, the car is back... I sent them pages of info and drawings from ETKA.

And they followed them, and said, you figured it out.

Once they pulled the center console they noted "Could see witness marks where metal bracket was hitting console, tightened, applied felt tape to both metal bracket, applied felt tape and foam tape to console. Found "ting" noise in shifter, lubricated with lithium grease.

They put it back together, and noticed a slight squeak in the brake, so they took it all apart again, and lubed the ebrake mech all up and put felt tape on that.

Drove it about 10 miles since picking it p on some bad roads... so far so good.

Had to laugh, I had to park my toyota minivan at home and walk a mile to the dealer (by the time they'd send a shuttle, I figured I'd be there). As I walked up, my old A6 was there... I was "I thought you sold it", they were "we did, it fell through after a couple weeks".

I sold the Audi to them on the 30th... they sold it on the 15th, and carfax shows they took it back on the 4th... Now they're asking $25,900 for it, which is about $4K below book. dunno what happened there. I'm guessing the price drop is because premium gas has gone up about 40 cents in the past 10 days... (It's about $4.19/gal here) because it's not that much higher than I got trade-in for it (if they get what they're asking, it's about a 10 point profit at best, and that's slim for the retail used market). But then Premium was running about $3.39/gal.

Weird thing is ARCO has diesel for $4.09 around the corner from me, and I use it because it's next door to a rental place with lots of trucks, so it gets a lot of diesel traffic from the truck returns.... nice fresh diesel FTW! =-)

Was nice getting in the Jetta again after drving my Toyotas for the last few days. It's a world of difference between the two ideas of driving.
